Procedures traveling to Ukraine from USA
« on: 18:46 20-Apr-2017 »
My wife and I  left Ukraine and traveled to USA to activate her green card. We booked round trip from Ukraine. When we check in at Detroilet, Mi to travel back, I was jammed for not having any idea when I was returning to the US. I was told I had to book a return ticket not more than 90 days because of new policy changes. Then I pulled out the good ole Ukrainian TRP. That document gathered quite a few people scratching heads, and after a long debate they issued a boarding pass.

I asked where could I find this new policy to read for myself....did not get an answer

They've done that for at least a year already. Just say that you're aware of the 90/180 rule and that you won't be in Ukraine that long, you're basing from there to tour around.  That should get them head-scratching! :D :D :D

But showing the TRP or PR will shut them up.
In Russia we only had two TV channels. Channel One was propaganda. Channel Two consisted of a KGB officer telling you: Turn back at once to Channel One. Yakov Smirnoff

but did you have to give access to social media accounts to enter? Reports are that that is another new policy.

At random, they are asking for data devices and downloading files.....

You have to keep in mind that the airlines are just afraid that if they deliver you to Ukraine you will be turned back at Immigration and they, the airlines, will have to give you a free ticket home.  Ultimately, that is all they care about.  They are not experts at anything.  Their policies are directed at not issuing free tickets and not at being consistent or following the law or making any sense.

I just flew back last week from SFO via Dulles, and there was nothing unusual. They glanced at my passport without question or comment.

Been flying on LH between Germany and UA for the last 10 years, more times that I can count...never once asked about my return travel plans by any LH agent.
