Cogito Ergo Sum

I also agree - the whole family is covered at Into Sana for $500 per year and covers all consultations, scans, tests etc.....no way I would pay $800 just for an ultrasound.

I know I could save money and go to Oblastnaya Bolnitza where Anechka's sisters husband works as a surgeon and not have to pay anything (and of course not wait to be seen as he works there).......but it is the other side of the city from me and to be honest, the travel hassle across the city from me is worth the $500 per year to travel only 15 minutes when I need them instead.

Lazy, I will grant you, waste of $500 a year......possibly, but then I spend much more than that amount on all sorts of insurance policies which I will probably never have to claim on and I have at least got more than my $500 worth out of Into Sana this year for the family members covered which have had to go there.  Cheesy

Ah, GC, it depends upon whether they actually carry out the tests or simply provide you with a letter. I cannot for a minute imagine ANY hospital, Ukrainian or otherwise carrying out all those tests PROPERLY for $25 - too many people involved, specialists, laboratory testing of samples etc.

Just my opinion, of course.

Its worth paying 230 US so that your drunk habits remain on a private level

Mind you the AMC did ring let my secretary have my AIDS test results open for viewing - good job I was ok...

lol

You are very much righ, In private medical establishments its impossible. I do remember a few years ago when I applied for my anual OVIR extension I required the HIV spravka and went to the Polyclinci in near the OVIR office. The nurse took the blood sample but said would issue spravka for 10$.
Though the qulaity of medical support is very bad many services are still free at the local polyclinics if you have "registration". Few months ago during the swine flu scare, I flew back from Germany after a conference fell sick. I went to the polyclinic near my palce and I paid 20 UAH for X-ray, blood test was free though I dropped in at around 2PM (ususal timing for blood test is till 11.00 AM). I requested the nurse that I will be "grateful" for her help. she chatted a few mins about Indian movies and turned she was big fan, she did'nt even want to take "gratitude" from me. P.S I have no medical insurance.
I will be applying for permanant residence next month.. will update our expat forum of my troubles.

The real question is whether you feel that you were taken care of properly or whether you received no different service or care than elsewhere.

They really did all the tests and I was done in about half an hour. A nurse took me from room to room for the different tests, so i felt well taken care of. The only drawback was that they told me the result is ready on Monday, but when i went to pick it up, it wasn't ready. They "forgot" that the lab was on holiday that week... Roll Eyes And they couldn't explain why nobody informed me! For this much money I would have expected at least a call not to bother to go....
I haven't been to public hospital in years in any country, so I can't really compare the experience. As long as my insurance pays for private care, I am not going to experiment Wink

I had to ask for the results of a blood test I had (although they'd promised to email them to me)- even then I just got an email saying it was clear, not the actual results.

You didn't get the results that you paid for?
Even local public hospitals will give you the results. On a cut piece of paper, hand written, but still...

I highly recommend Synevo (http://www.synevo.com.ua). But they only do lab tests. They have clinics in all major cities. You get great service, results, and for a small fraction of the price you'll pay at this American Medical Center. Those prices are absolutely ridiculous! Надувательство!

No, sadly I didn't get the results I paid for - just a reply to my email (I sent asking for the promised, but not forthcoming, results) telling me I was OK. I didn't feel very OK.

rayjazz mentioned a good place for tests. I can add Eurolab. Just tests, but the results come straight to your inbox and are sent as soon as available. I waited only a few hours for a general test. Not cheap, but cheaper than the subject of this thread.

Yes, I was taken care very well. Took my blood after the usual blood test hours and gave the results next day. And had a great conversation with the nurse.
