Little Ukraine - traditional houses
« on: 18:54 26-May-2011 »
Dear Expats

I have heard from a friend about a kind of museum of traditional built houses south of Kiev. Just as some countries have a miniature of their typical houses, where you can walk around (see Ballenberg in Switzerland You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login
), Kiev has the same but in original size.

Now, I tried to google it but was not successful. The name is 'Piragoro' or 'Piragovo', can't remember exactly.

Has anyone been there? How to get there?

Thank you!!!!

I'm still trying to find a suitable song for that video!

It's called, 'The Museum of National Architecture and Life of Ukraine', located in Pyrogove Village.
Tania (my wife) and I adore it and go there once a month in the summer half of the year. Unrealistically many windmills, but a lot of charming huts - fresh air and an open landscape, flowers, birds. Not crowded outside weekends.
TB 11 to the endstation, and then you have to walk some 400 meters east over open fields with larks thrilling in the vast blue over you...

Looks like the village museum outside of Novgorod.
THey used to build houses with nails, because Jesus Christ was hung up with nails.
Looking at the set up, they were very frugal and wise how they managed their home unless today (why do people put more pillows than necessary on the bed so they can throw them off).

I know nothing except the fact of my ignorance.
